Fishing Report 10-05-2012

FISHING REPORT – 10-05-2012

BASS

Still a bit
quiet at Cressbrook Dam at the moment, however there are still a few fish being
caught on Blades and soft plastics in the main basin and over towards Deer
Island as well as in parts of the Bull Creek arm of the dam. Boondooma Dam,
at Pelican point, the junction and the Stuart arm is producing quality Bass on
Soft plastics, while Jackall’s and Little Max 3/8oz blades have been very
popular with the schooled fish, along points & timbered edges, casting with
a very slow retrieve or slow troll has produced the best results. Also this
week, Yellow & Brown, yellow & green & silver SMAK deep divers are
working in 19 - 25ft of water trolling the banks in the Stuart River & the
main basin. Bjelke Peterson dam has been a bit quiet this week, with no reports
of Bass being caught. Somerset has seen a few Bass landed on Blades and Soft
Plastics in 15 to 30 foot of water around the Pelican Point area, and there has
also been a few fish coming out of the deeper parts of the dam, on blades, soft
plastics and ice jigs.

YELLOWBELLY AND
COD.
Cooby Dam has again
produced a few Yellowbelly, with the odd fish getting up around the 50cm mark, frozen
Saltwater Yabbies and live Shrimp have landed the most fish, while there has
been the odd one landed on trolled lures. In Boondooma Dam, the Yellowbelly
have been hitting trolled lures around the edges, in about 12-15ft of water. The Ballone River
at St.George is still producing good numbers of Yellowbelly and a few Cod,
caught mainly on live bait. The Macintyre River at Goondiwindi is still fairly quiet in the town
reaches, but there has been a few Yellowbelly landed, with the most success
coming on bait and casting Jackals and Kokoda ‘G’ Vibes. Plenty of Yellowbelly
coming out of the Dumeresq River, upstream of Texas, and there have been a few
Cod taken on hard bodies and spinnerbaits. Glenlyon Dam has seen some nice Yellowbelly
landed up around the 3-4lb mark on live shrimp, and trolling spinnerbaits at
the back of spinners run has produced some reasonable catches of Cod. The
fishing has improved this week at Coolmunda, with some nice catches of
Yellowbelly on live shrimp, out from the boat ramp and a few Cod are starting
to show around the timber on bigger hard bodies. And finally to Leslie Dam, still
a few Yellowbelly being caught on frozen saltwater yabbies and the occasional
Cod on Spinnerbaits throughout the dam.

GOLD COAST AND TWEED

Offshore
fishing has been a bit quiet again this week; however there has been some
quality Snapper on the closer reefs,
while there has been a few Pearl Perch and Wahoo on the 50 fathoms. At the
Tweed, inshore
fishing has produced a few Chopper Tailor off the beaches, early morning, on
the run in tide, quality Bream around the river mouth, a few Luderick starting
to show off the rock walls and some nice Flathead in the upper reaches, while
up around Southport the Seaway is producing Tailor and Trevelly on the run in
tide, quality Flathead around Kalinga and Gold Banks and plenty of Gar around
the weed banks near Wavebreak Island.

SUNSHINE COAST

Plenty
of big Spanish Mackerel at 12 Mile Reef, and good numbers of Snapper, Pearl
Perch and Sweetlip on the closer reefs. Inshore fishing has produced plenty of
good size Flathead and Bream around the Boardwalk at Caloundra and throughout
the Noosa River, Flathead also around the Cod hole, the Noosa River has also
seen good numbers of Mangrove Jack in the upper reaches, Tailor and Longtail
Tuna at the mouth of the Maroochy River and off the break wall of the Noosa
River and plenty of Jewies throughout the passage

HERVEY BAY

Quality
Snapper and Pearl Perch starting to show, offshore, while inshore has produced
some good size Trevelly in the estuaries, Bream in the shallows at night and a
few Flathead on the flats.
