FISHING REPORT – 19-01-2012
BASS
Cressbrook Dam is still fishing quite well, with good numbers of fish, still out from the boat ramp and near the buoy line, soft plastics and blades have provided the most fish. The fishing is a little steady at Boondooma at the moment, the fish are a bit scattered and you have to put in a bit of work for them. Trolling hard body lures in lighter colours, casting soft plastics, mask vibes or blades have given the best results. Again, the fish are scattered in Bjelke Peterson, but there have been a few Bass caught around Bass Point, on ice jigs and mask vibes.
At Somerset the Bass are quite scattered throughout the dam, try targeting these fish with Blades, Soft Plastics, Jackalls, and trolled hard bodies, and you should pick up a few nice fish. There has been a lot of Bass caught in around the timber as well, on Blades and Soft Plastics, casting near the trees and slowly working the lures back to the boat has been the most successful. It is also worth a look around the edges as well.
Yellowbelly and Cod
Still good numbers of Yellowbelly in Boondooma, trolling hard bodies and Jackalls has given the best results. You could also try casting Jackalls and Spinnerbaits, working along the steeper banks, and for the bait anglers, using live Shrimp in the Stewart and Boyne arms of the dam should see you land a few as well. The Ballone River at St.George is producing quality Yellowbelly and a few Cod, up to 20lb, at the moment live Shrimp, Yabbies and Worms have produced the most fish. The Macintyre River at Goondiwindi has produced heaps of Yellowbelly this week, they have been mainly taken on bait, with only a few coming on lures, due to the water still being a bit dirty. The Dumeresq River at Texas is fishing well, in the town reaches , as well as downstream, with both Cod and Yellowbelly being caught on bait. There was a 38lb Cod caught downstream of Texas. Coolmunda has been a bit quiet this week, but there are still a few Yellowbelly being taken on trolled lures out from the boat ramp. Leslie Dam has produced a few Yellowbelly, using frozen Saltwater Yabbies, and the odd Cod, caught on trolled, deep diving, hard body lures. Glenlyon has again fished well over the past week, with a few Cod caught on Spinnerbaits around the Caves area of the dam, there has also been good numbers of Yellowbelly, taken on bait, trolled hard body lures and Jackalls.

SUNSHINE COAST

Inshore is producing plenty of Mangrove Jack and Trevelly in the Noosa River on soft plastics, and on live bait and trolled lures in the passage as well as the Maroochy River, quality Whiting on live sandworms and surface poppers, throughout the Noosa River and near the Power Boat Club at Caloundra, Flathead and Bream in the Maroochy River, and Flathead also at Noosa and around the bar entrance at Caloundra.
