FISHING REPORT – 12-01-2012

BASS
Cressbrook Dam is still fishing quite well, provided you can locate the active schools of Bass. Trolling and casting blades, Jackalls or Spinnerbaits have been producing the best results, with most fish holding around 15ft. It would also be worth trying the edges early morning and late afternoon, with surface and reaction lures. Boondooma Dam is still fishing quite well, with good numbers of fish still being taken throughout the dam, hard bodies, like SMAK 12’s, 19’s and Golden Child have proven to be the best lures for trolling, while casting Spinnerbaits and Jackalls at steeper banks has also produced some quality fish. Bjelke Peterson has again produced a few Bass around the points on live bait and trolled hard body lures.
At Somerset the Bass are quite scattered around Pelican Point, try targeting these fish with Blades, Jackalls, and trolled hard bodies, and you should pick up a few nice fish. There has been a lot of Bass caught in around the timber on Blades and Jackalls, casting near the trees and slowly working the lures back to the boat has been the most successful. The Redclaw have been on the move, with large quantities being caught close to the edges, using cat food for bait.

Yellowbelly and Cod
Still good numbers of Yellowbelly in Boondooma, trolling hard bodies and Jackalls has given the best results. You could also try casting Jackalls and Spinnerbaits, working along the steeper banks, and for the bait anglers, using live Shrimp in the Stewart and Boyne arms of the dam should see you land a few as well. The Ballone River at St.George has produced plenty of Yellowbelly over the past week, the fish aren’t huge, but they are certainly there in numbers. Small hard body lures and live Shrimp and Worms have produced the most fish.
The Macintyre River at Goondiwindi has fired up over the past week, with heaps of Yellowbelly, and Cod up to 20lb being taken, casting or trolling Spinners, Spinnerbaits and hard body lures, however, it has been a bit quiet for the bait anglers. The Dumeresq River at Texas is fishing well, in the town reaches , as well as upstream, with both Cod and Yellowbelly being caught on frozen Saltwater Yabbies, Morme and live Shrimp. Not much activity for the lure anglers this week, as there is a slight flow in the river and the water is a bit dirty. Coolmunda has fished quite well this week, with most fish coming on lures, out from the boat ramp, or up around the timber. Leslie Dam has produced a few Yellowbelly, trolling diving lures around the rock wall, or using peeled prawns and frozen Saltwater Yabbies off the bank. Glenlyon has again fished well over the past week, with some nice Cod around the 20lb mark, as well as plenty of Yellowbelly, caught mainly on Jackalls, Blades and trolled hard body lures, with late afternoon being the best time to target the fish.

GOLD COAST AND THE TWEED

Offshore, has seen good catches of Spotty Mackerell out off Palm Beach and around the gravel patch, dolphin fish on 9 mile reef and the 36’s, also some Yellowfin Tuna at 9 Mile and a few Squire around Cook Island. Inshore has produced good numbers of Jack’s and Trevelly around structure in the Nerang River and also in the Seaway, using live bait and soft plastics, nice Flathead, on soft plastics, throughout the Tweed, Garfish around Wavebreak and Crab Islands, quality Whiting near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River and also throughout the Tweed River and there has been plenty of Muddies getting about the Coomera and Pimpama Rivers, as well as good numbers of Sand Crabs in the Broadwater.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing is still a bit tough at the moment, but there has been a few Spotty and Spanish Mackerel about, and also some quality Coral Trout up to 10kg. Inshore is producing plenty of Mangrove Jack and Trevelly in the Noosa River on soft plastics, and on live bait and trolled lures in the passage as well as the Maroochy River, quality Whiting on live sandworms and surface poppers, throughout the Noosa River and near the Power Boat Club at Caloundra, Flathead and Bream in the Maroochy River, and Flathead also at Noosa and around the bar entrance at Caloundra.

HERVEY BAY

There have been big numbers of Spotty Mackerell to 6kg around Moon Point. The reefs have been a bit quiet, but have produced some Parrot Fish and Cod and there has been a few Golden Trevelly and Cobia around the Fairway Buoy.

going to write about it. Your site looks a perfect place for an article on this topic.
So if you would like that, it would be great if you could post it on your site.
And that’s absolutely free of cause.
