BASS

Boondooma Dam has continued to fish well, with good numbers of Bass landed throughout the dam. Trolling hard body lures in darker colours, early morning and late afternoon, and brighter colours through the middle of the day has proven to be the most successful. Bjelke Peterson has produced a few just legal Bass around the wall end of the dam, these have been caught working Spinnerbaits deep and Baramba Creek above and below the dam is still producing quality fish in good numbers.
Somerset has fished a bit tougher over the past week, the fish have been a lot harder to find, but when you do, there has been some reasonable numbers of fish caught on soft plastics and Ice Jigs, there has also been some fish caught in the timbered area of the dam.

Yellowbelly and Cod

Still good numbers of Yellowbelly in Boondooma, basically in the same areas, and using the same methods that the Bass have been caught on.. The Macintyre at Goondiwindi has produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, up to 62cm over the past week on bait and Spinnerbaits. There were also a few Cod caught and released over the weekend, and remember, Murray cod cannot be taken from the Macintyre, Dumaresq and Barwon Rivers between 1st September and 30th November. Coolmunda has again produced plenty of Yellowbelly this week, the best methods have been, trolling hard body lures and using live shrimp.
Leslie Dam is still fishing quite well, with good numbers of quality Yellowbelly, Silver Perch and a few Cod taken on bait and trolled hard body lures.
Glenlyon has again fished well over the past week, with good numbers of Yellowbelly and Cod, caught mainly on Spinnerbaits and hard body lures, but there has been good numbers also taken on live Shrimp.

GOLD COAST AND THE TWEED

It has been a bit windy offshore this week, but there have been a few brave souls who have ventured out to the Shelf and got in amongst some big Dolphin Fish, Wahoo and Marlin, and in a bit closer, there has been a few Snapper and Amberjacks on the 36’s. Inshore has seen plenty of Whiting coming off the beaches, Flathead around the mouth of the Tweed River on Soft Plastics, Blades and drifting baits, in the Terranora Lakes area and also on Soft Plastics around Jumpinpin. Mangrove Jack on trolled hard body lures in the Coomera River, School Jew around the bridges in the Tweed and also off Kingscliff and Cabarita Beaches.

SUNSHINE COAST

Good catches of big Snapper around the 5.5 to 6kg mark at Murphy’s Reef, a few Cobia around North Reef, Sweetlip and Snapper on Sunshine Reef, a few Spanish Mackerel off the headlands and there has been some Spotty Mackerel caught around 5 Mile Reef. Inshore has seen good numbers of Flathead and Whiting off Golden Beach and in the lower reaches of the Noosa River. Bream Estuary Cod and Mangrove Jack around the Boardwalk at Caloundra, Jack’s also in Bells Creek, and between the lakes in the upper reaches of the Noosa River, and still the odd Barramundi, has been taken in the lakes area as well, mainly on lures and soft plastics.
