FISHING REPORT – 14-06-2012
BASS
Still some
reasonable catches of Bass coming out of Cressbrook Dam at the moment, Jackall
mask vibes seem to be producing the most fish, although there are still fish
taking soft plastics and blades, while the points in the main basin and over towards
Deer Island, as well as parts of the Bull Creek arm of the dam have been the
pick of the spots. Boondooma Dam, try around Balancing Rock, The Junction
and the Stuart River arm of the dam, using soft plastics and Jackall mask vibes
in 30 to 40 feet of water, and in the deeper water, ice jigs have produced some
good catches of fish as well. Bjelke Peterson dam has produced some small Bass,
off the edges, casting ¼ oz Blades, Somerset has again been a bit quiet, with
the timbered area of the dam producing the most fish and TN60 Jackalls being
the pick of the lures.
YELLOWBELLY AND
COD.
Cooby Dam has again
produced a few Yellowbelly in the deeper parts of the dam, frozen Saltwater
Yabbies and live Shrimp have landed the most fish and there has been a few
jewies caught of the banks. In Boondooma Dam, the Yellowbelly have been coming
out of 16-25 feet of water on trolled hard bodies and the timbered area of the
Stuart arm has seen a few good size fish landed as well. Bjelke Peterson dam has produced
some nice Yellowbelly in the timbered area of the dam, casting Spinnerbaits and
Jackals. The Macintyre River at Goondiwindi has seen good numbers of Cod and Yellowbelly
landed, with frozen saltwater yabbies, live Shrimp and Crays, as well as
Jackalls and Spinnerbaits providing the most fish. The Dumeresq River has seen some
quality Cod caught casting Spinnerbaits around any sort of structure or snags.
A bit of a mixed bag this week at Glenlyon Dam, with Cod from 65-75cm and
Yellowbelly ftrom 30-40cm taking a variety of lures, spinnerbaits and bait. Coolmunda
has seen a few Yellowbelly caught off the banks on bait, and also on
spinnerbaits in the deeper parts of the dam. And Leslie Dam, has seen a few Yellowbelly
caught in the deeper parts of the dam on deep diving lures, frozen saltwater
yabbies and live worms.
GOLD COAST AND TWEED
Offshore
fishing has been nearly non-existent over the past week, due to the poor
weather conditions . At the Tweed, inshore fishing has produced good
numbers of Chopper Tailor and Trevelly around the river mouth and some nice
Flathead and Bream behind the Golf Club, while up around Southport the fishing
has been excellent, due to fish being pushed in with the rough weather. The seaway
is producing quality Snapper, while some Trevelly, Yellowtail Kingfish and
Mulloway have been lande just of Crab Island. It’s also worth a look around the
mouths of the creeks and estuaries for a few Flathead.
SUNSHINE COAST
Again,
offshore fishing has been very ordinary due to the weather, but, inshore
fishing has seen some Bream and Flathead caught in the Maroochy River and the
Noosa River is going off, with Trevelly, meter plus Queenfish, Hairtail,
Tailor, Mangrove Jack and some very big Flathead providing anglers with plenty
of excitement.
