FISHING REPORT – 30-10-2014
BASS
Cressbrook Dam has produced some quality Bass again
this week, live shrimp are still a good option, but Spinnerbaits and silent
TN60 Jackalls are picking up a few off the steeper banks. Somerset Dam has
quietened off a bit this week, The Spit, Bay13 and the Pelican Point areas are
still holding fish, but they’re a bit tight lipped at the moment. Boondooma Dam
has seen Tailspinners working well in 15-20ft of water, around Pelican Point,
slow worked soft vibes are proving to be effective in both arms and trolled
hard bodies have worked well in the main basin, plenty of smaller Bass taking
live shrimp and blades, mainly around the edges at Bjelke Peterson, Moogerah
has fished well again this week, with the fish becoming a lot more active as
the water temperature rises, hard bodies, blades and live shrimp have all
worked well and Maroon produced some quality Bass on surface lures early
morning, late afternoon, while working spinnerbaits and small crankbaits around
the weed edges, saw some good numbers landed as well.
YELLOWBELLY AND COD
Cooby Dam has been a bit quiet this week, with only
the odd Yellowbelly being caught, using frozen saltwater yabbies and hopping
blades late afternoon has provided the best results. Glenlyon has fished quite
well again this week, with good numbers of Cod hitting bigger spinnerbaits and
trolled hard bodies, and with shrimp becoming more prominent in the weed edges,
they are starting to work well for the Yellowbelly. Trolled hard body lures
have worked well again at Coolmunda this week, working the drop-offs to the old
creek beds and out from the wall have been the best spots, while frozen
saltwater yabbies have been the pick of the baits and Cod have been fairly
active, with hard bodies and spinnerbaits doing the job on these. Leslie Dam
continues to fish very well, with reports of good numbers being landed, there
were some nice Yellowbelly landed from the bank near the concrete boat ramp on
Sunday morning, the majority of these fish were taken on live shrimp, while
casting and trolling hard body lures and blades produced fish throughout the
dam. At Boondooma, trolling hard bodies throughout the main basin and both arms
has produced decent numbers, while Bjelke Peterson has seen Jackalls and
spinnerbaits working well around the timber and points. As for the rivers, the
Macintyre at Goondi has produced a few Yellowbelly on frozen saltwater yabbies
and spinnerbaits, the St.George area has seen Yellowbelly active above the Jack
Tyler Weir, while below the weir has produced good numbers of Cod; and the
Condamine has again produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, particularly from
Pratten through to Warwick, with bait, hard bodies and spinnerbaits all working
well.
GOLD COAST
Offshore fishing has seen Yellowfin Tuna and Kingies
on the 50’s and the 24’s and 36’s have also produced Kingies as well as a few
Amberjack, while inshore has produced GT’s and School Jew near the pipeline, at
the top of the tide, Kingies and Jew in the Seaway, the Nerang River is fishing
well for Mangrove Jack on hard bodies and live Mullet, around the bridges and
pylons and the Pin is producing some quality Flathead near Kalinga Bank and
Crusoe Island.
SUNSHINE COAST
Offshore fishing has been a little quiet, mainly due
to rough conditions, however those who have ventured out, picked up the odd
Snapper. Inshore fishing has seen plenty of Flathead taking live bait and
plastics throughout the Passage, the Maroochy River has fished well for
Trevally and Whiting and the Noosa River has seen good numbers of Jack’s taken
on live baits, Whiting on surface poppers and worms and the run in tide has
