BASS
The fishing has been pretty tuff again at Boondooma
this week, tailspinners and blades have been the most effective, while the
timbered area of the Stewart arm has been the best spot to target, blades and
live shrimp have picked up a few Bass at Bjelke Peterson and Maroon Dam has
produced a few fish again this week, with anglers picking up some decent Bass
around the weed pockets, soft plastics and crank baits are still working the
best.
YELLOWBELLY AND
COD
Glenlyon Dam has been the best impoundment for
Yellowbelly this week, good numbers of fish are taking live worms and frozen saltwater
yabbies in 30-40ft of water, low numbers of Yellowbelly at Coolmunda Dam this week, the drop-offs
to the old creek beds and also along the wall have been the best spots to target. A bit quiet at
Leslie Dam again this week, with low numbers of Yellowbelly taking frozen
saltwater yabbies in the main basin. Boondooma has seen stacks of good quality
Yellowbelly taking blades, spinnerbaits, frozen saltwater yabbies and live
shrimp throughout the dam and Bjelke Peterson has seen a few fish taken in the
main basin, as well as the points throughout the dam, trolling darker coloured hard
bodies has been the most effective. As for the rivers, the Macintyre River has
seen good numbers of Cod, up to a metre hitting surface lures and bigger
spinnerbaits, quality Yellowbelly to 50cm have been plentiful as well, the
Dumeresq River, downstream of Texas has produced reasonable numbers of Cod this
week, surface lures and spinnerbaits have been effective there as well and the upper
reaches of the Condamine River have produced a few Cod and Yellowbelly on
spinnerbaits, hard bodies and frozen saltwater yabbies.
GOLD COAST
Offshore fishing has been good again this week, with
the inner reefs fishing well for Amberjack and Cobia and good numbers of Squire
and Trag Jew have been taken on the 24’s and 36’s. Inshore fishing saw the
Southport Seaway produce a few Tailor and Trevally, along the rock walls; quality
Flathead throughout the Jumpinpin area and there’s heaps of Bream and Whiting
throughout most of the estuaries.
SUNSHINE COAST
Offshore fishing has been pretty good again; there’s
plenty of Snapper about at the moment, with 5 Mile, 12 Mile, Sunshine and
Caloundra Wide all producing, there’s also a few Pearl Perch amongst them and
the odd Mackerel is still getting about. While inshore fishing has seen Bream
and Luderick off the Boardwalk and plenty of Bream also throughout the Maroochy
River, School Jew in the passage and the Noosa River has produced big Sea Bream
just inside the river mouth, School Jew and Flathead to 90cm on soft plastics
and blades and soft plastics have also worked well for Golden Trevally.
HERVEY BAY
Tuna and Mackerel in Platypus Bay, plenty of Bream
around the jetties and rock walls, a few flathead along the beaches and there’s
been a few Tailor starting to show up on the southern end of Fraser Island.
