FISHING REPORT – 09-01-2014

BASS

Cressbrook Dam is still fishing quite well for Bass, soft vibes and spinnerbaits are still working, looking along the buoy line close to the picnic area and around Deer Island, is still a good option, it’s also worth a look near the eagles nest and into the Cressbrook Creek arm of the dam, the fish are by no means easy to catch, but if you happen to hook a few, there are some quality fish getting about. Somerset Dam has again seen some good catches over the past week; Bay 13 has been a popular spot for the anglers, where hopping Soft Vibes and plastics or working spinnerbaits, has been effective. At Boondooma, the week started off with a bang, people were catching 45cm bass regularly with several over the 50cm mark, most were caught on trolled deep divers in about 20ft of water, while casting Spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the trees, in the upper reaches of both arms has been good as well. Bjelke Peterson hasn’t changed much this week, working the edges, leading into the timber, with spinnerbaits, Jackalls and Blades has been good, while trolling hard bodies through the main bays of the dam has produced some good fish as well, and all of these Bass dams have been producing good numbers of large Redclaw.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Cooby Dam is still fishing well for Yellowbelly, the right hand bank as you head towards the buoy line, out from the wall and also the point opposite the boat ramp have been good areas to target for both bait and lure anglers. Glenlyon is still producing good numbers of Yellowbelly and Silver Perch at the moment, live Shrimp have again been the pick of the baits, while trolled hard bodies and Spinnerbaits have been a good option, there’s also been a few Cod about, which have mainly been around the 60-70cm mark. Coolmunda has produced good numbers of Yellowbelly throughout the dam, with bait and lures working effectively. Leslie Dam has slowed down slightly, but anglers are still managing to land some nice fish. The bait anglers are still having the best results with both shrimps and frozen saltwater yabbies working the best, around the rocks near the wall and up near the "Black Boys" are still the best spots to try and the lure anglers are having some success while trolling 50-70mm bibbed lures in approximately 4 metres of water. In the South Burnett, both Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson dams have again produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, in Boondooma, bait and trolled hard bodies have been effective around the junction, while casting spinnerbaits in deeper water, sinking them to the bottom and then working them back to the boat has been effective, while at Bjelke Peterson, casting reaction lures, like spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the timber has been a popular method and trolled hard bodies have again worked well in the main basin.

GOLD COAST

Offshore fishing has again produced plenty of Kingies on 200 gram knife jigs on the northern 50’s, and good numbers of Dolphin Fish, Wahoo and small Black Marlin have been taken on the 36’s. Inshore fishing has seen Tailor and Giant Trevally hitting surface poppers, early morning on the run in tide, in the Seaway, Whiting are still prominent at night, near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River and Jumpinpin has produced some nice Flathead to 75cm on soft plastics.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has produced Spotty and Spanish Mackerel, Dolphin Fish and also a few Yellowfin Tuna, on livies and trolled lures. The majority of these fish have been on the wider reefs, however there have been a few Mackerel getting about the inner reefs. Most reefs are producing good mixed bags of reef fish, with the odd Cobia thrown in the mix. The Boardwalk at Caloundra is fishing well for Bream and Golden Trevally, a few Flathead around Bells Creek and in the Maroochy River, Whiting on surface poppers, around the weed beds at Military Jetty and also on the sand flats in the Noosa River. Currumundi Lake has produced some Bream and Jacks, Big Eye and Golden Trevally on surface poppers in Kawana Lake and the mouth of the Noosa River has seen Jewies, Jacks and Trevally at night, on live bait, on the tide change.  

 

 

 

 

Fishing Report 02-01-2014

FISHING REPORT – 02-01-2014

BASS

Cressbrook Dam is still fishing quite well for Bass, soft plastics and spinnerbaits are still working, looking along the buoy line and across to Deer Island, where the fish are suspended at about 20-30ft is still a good option, it’s also worth a look near the eagles nest and into the Cressbrook Creek arm of the dam, the fish are by no means easy to catch, but if you happen to hook a few, there are some quality fish getting about. Somerset Dam saw some good catches over the past week, the deeper water in the timbered part of the dam saw the fish suspended at about 20ft and working Spinnerbaits through these fish produced some good results. Queen Street, Pelican Point and Bay 13 have also been popular spot’s for the anglers, where hopping blades and Soft Vibes has been effective. Trolling hard bodies from the junction to the start of the timber in the Stuart arm has been very productive at Boondooma, while casting Spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the trees, in the upper reaches of both arms has been good as well. Bjelke Peterson has also produced good numbers of Bass this week, working the edges, leading into the timber, with spinnerbaits, Jackalls and Blades has been good, while trolling hard bodies through the main bays of the dam has produced some good fish as well, and down at Moogerah Dam, the excessive boat traffic is not doing anglers any favours.  Maroon continues to fish quite well with some nice Bass being landed over the past week or so.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Cooby Dam is still fishing well for Yellowbelly, around the weed edges, trolled hard bodies and spinnerbaits have worked well again, while blades, live Shrimp and frozen saltwater yabbies have been effective on the deeper schooled fish, the land based anglers have also caught a few, with bait being the best option for them. Glenlyon is firing at the moment, with good numbers of Yellowbelly and Silver Perch landed, live Shrimp have again been the pick of the baits, while trolled hard bodies and Spinnerbaits have been a good option, there’s also been a few Cod caught, which have mainly been around the 60-70cm mark. Coolmunda has produced a few Yellowbelly on Jackalls and Spinnerbaits, worked around the timber, while frozen Saltwater Yabbies and trolled hard bodies have been effective along the old creek beds. Leslie Dam is fishing very well at the moment with anglers reporting some nice fish on both lures and bait.  There have been some nice Golden perch landed as well as some quality Murray Cod, Shrimps are working the best for the bait anglers with saltwater yabbies bringing good results, anglers are having success in approximately 4 to 6 metres of water trolling bibbed lures, and in the South Burnett, both Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson dams have again produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, in Boondooma, bait and trolled hard bodies have been effective around the junction, while casting spinnerbaits around the timber and to the edges in both arms has produced some quality fish, while at Bjelke Peterson, casting reaction lures, like spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the timber has been a popular method and trolled hard bodies have worked well in the main basin.

Inshore fishing has seen smaller Kingies and Trevally, early morning on the run in tide, in the Seaway, Whiting are still prominent around the mouth of the Coomera River and near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River, Jacks around the bridges throughout the canals and Hinze Dam has been firing for Bass.

SUNSHINE COAST

Spotty mackerel are all the talk at the moment and the Spanish mackerel are starting to build in numbers as well, with more and more reports of these fish coming in of late. Mahi Mahi are in good numbers on the mid to wider marks, with some of the better fish being reported going around the 8-10 kg mark. Red Empororer and Coral Trout should be nice and active now up on the northern reefs and there has been a few small to mid-sized Snapper, Sweetlip and Cod being caught along the closer reefs around Sunshine and south to Caloundra. Mack tuna are also around in good numbers, mostly appearing in the same areas as the spotty mackerel. The local beaches have shown nice recent activity from whiting in the gutters from Point Cartwright down to the Currimundi lake mouth, the better time to target them being early morning on the run out tide with either live yabbies or sand worms. There is also a few Dart getting about in the wash, mostly smaller fish, however a few bigger fish are getting about on the afternoon high tides. A few mid-sized flathead and bream too, but not as many as you would expect for this time of year. Estuary fishing has seen the numbers of Mangrove Jack on the increase of late, with the hotter, summer water temps rising. Parrearra lake , Kawana lake and around the local bridges and rock walls are providing some quality fish. Many of these have been hooked on live bait, however they are also quite happy to take a well presented 3 to 4 inch paddle tail or jerk bait. Big eye Trevally are in good numbers in Parrearra lake, with most of the activity being late afternoon along the edges. The average size is around the 40cm mark, however there is a few bigger fish amongst them. Jewfish should be worth a shot with the recent rain, the deeper holes and river mouths are the best place to start. Some solid wild bass are on the move in the upper reaches for those who can find them, bigger walk the dog type lures in green colour schemes are working well.

BASS

Cressbrook Dam is fishing a bit tough for Bass, soft plastics are still working, looking along the buoy line and across to Deer Island for suspended fish is still a good option, it’s also worth a look near the eagles nest and into the Cressbrook Creek arm of the dam. Somerset Dam has again seen some good catches over   the past week; Queen Street was again a popular spot for the anglers, where hopping blades and Soft Vibes have been effective. Trolling hard bodies from the junction to the start of the timber in the Stuart arm has again worked well at Boondooma this week, while casting Spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the trees, in the upper reaches of that same arm has been good also. Similar at Bjelke Peterson, it has again produced good numbers of Bass, working the edges, leading into the timber, with spinnerbaits, Jackalls and Blades, while trolling hard bodies through the main bays of the dam has produced some good fish as well.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

A bit quieter at Cooby this week, although there are a still few Yellowbelly, around the weed edges, trolled hard bodies and spinnerbaits have worked well again, while blades, live Shrimp and frozen saltwater yabbies have been effective on the deeper fish, the land based anglers have also caught a few, with bait being the best option for them. Glenlyon has improved again this week, with good numbers of Yellowbelly and Silver Perch landed, live Shrimp have again been the pick of the baits, while trolled hard bodies and Spinnerbaits have seen a few Cod caught, but they have only been around the 60-70cm mark. Coolmunda has produced a few Yellowbelly on Jackalls and Spinnerbaits, worked around the timber, while frozen Saltwater Yabbies and trolled hard bodies have been effective along the old creek beds. Leslie Dam is still a bit quiet at the moment, using a sounder to locate the fish in the main basin and targeting them with bait has picked up a couple and if you head up to the back reaches near the boulders there’s still the odd fish hitting Jackalls and Spinnerbaits as well, and in the South Burnett, both Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson dams have again produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, in Boondooma, bait and trolled hard bodies have been effective around the junction, while casting spinnerbaits around the timber and to the edges in both arms has produced some quality fish, while at Bjelke Peterson, casting reaction lures, like spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the timber has been a popular method and trolled hard bodies have worked well in the main basin. As for the rivers, locally the Condamine has produced a few Yellowbelly and Cod, mainly on the Southern part of the downs.

GOLD COAST

Offshore fishing has again produced plenty of Kingies on knife jigs on the 50’s, good numbers of Dolphin Fish on the 36’s and 50’s and out the front of the Pin has again seen some smaller Black Marlin getting about. Inshore fishing has seen smaller Kingies and Trevally, early morning on the run in tide, in the Seaway, Whiting are still prominent around the mouth of the Coomera River and near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River, Jacks around the bridges throughout the canals and Hinze Dam has been firing for Bass.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has seen some decent schools of Spotty Mackerel getting about, casting metal slugs and running them back through the fish has worked the best, and a few reports of mixed reef fish on 12 Mile and Sunshine Reefs. Inshore fishing has seen the Bar entrance at Caloundra producing some nice Flathead, while in the passage, smaller Jewies are holding in the deeper holes, the Maroochy River has been fishing well for Jacks around the creek mouths Flathead, Trevally and Jewies at the mouth of the Noosa River, Whiting on surface poppers just inside the river mouth and the beaches have been fishing quite well, with good reports of bigger Dart on the early morning high tides and also a few Whiting and Flathead on the run out tides in the in close gutters.

Somerset Dam saw some good catches over the weekend and into the start of this week, the deeper water in the timbered part of the dam saw the fish suspended at about 20ft and working Spinnerbaits through these fish produced some good results. Queen Street was also a popular spot for the anglers, where vertically worked blades were effective. Trolling hard bodies from the junction to the start of the timber in the Stuart arm has been very productive at Boondooma this week, while casting Spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the trees, in the upper reaches of that same arm has been good as well. Bjelke Peterson has also produced good numbers of Bass this week, working the edges, leading into the timber, with spinnerbaits, Jackalls and Blades has been good, while trolling hard bodies through the main bays of the dam has produced some good fish as well, and down at Maroon Dam, anglers have managed to land a few nice Bass over the past week, Spinnerbaits worked around the weed edges, early morning and late afternoon has been effective.

Fairly similar at Cooby this week it’s still fishing well for Yellowbelly, although the fish have been a bit smaller, around the weed edges, trolled hard bodies and spinnerbaits have worked well again, while blades, live Shrimp and frozen saltwater yabbies have been effective on the deeper schooled fish, the land based anglers have also caught a few, with bait being the best option for them. Inshore fishing has seen smaller Kingies and Trevally, early morning on the run in tide, in the Seaway, Whiting are still prominent around the mouth of the Coomera River and near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River, Jacks around the bridges throughout the canals and the southern Broadwater has again seen stacks of Sand Crabs getting about.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has seen some decent schools of Spotty Mackerel, Long Tail and Mac Tuna getting about, trolling livies and deep diving hard bodies has worked well on those fish, while there have been good reports of Coral Trout on Sunshine Reef. Inshore fishing has seen the passage at Caloundra producing some nice Flathead, the Maroochy River has been fishing well for Flathead, Trevally and Jacks, Trevally, Jewies, Tailor and Flathead at the mouth of the Noosa River, Whiting on surface poppers just inside the river mouth and the beaches have produced good numbers of quality Whiting and Dart.

FISHING REPORT – 28-11-2013

BASS

Cressbrook Dam has been fishing well for Bass, with some quality fish from 38-44cm hitting soft plastics and spinnerbaits, look along the buoy line and across to Deer Island, where the fish are suspended at about 20-30ft, it’s also worth a look near the eagles nest and into the Cressbrook Creek arm of the dam. Somerset Dam has kicked into gear again this week; with some good solid fish taking soft plastics and ice jigs, the fish are still holding in Bay 13, Queen Street and around Pelican Point. Boondooma Dam has got a good reaction bite going at the moment, with quality fish taking TN60 Jackalls and spinnerbaits, cast to the edges. Bjelke Peterson has also produced good numbers of Bass this week, working the edges with spinnerbaits in the timbered areas has been good while Bass point has seen a few taken on Blades and trolled hard bodies and down at Moogerah Dam, anglers have managed to land a few nice Bass over the past week, most fish were landed in and around the timber while casting blades, another successful has been in the bay opposite the dam wall, while some fish were also landed trolling hard bodies along the southern bank.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Fairly similar at Cooby this week it’s still fishing well for Yellowbelly around the weed edges, trolled hard bodies and spinnerbaits have worked well on those fish while blades, ice jigs and frozen saltwater yabbies have been effective on the deeper schooled fish and there are still a few Cod taking spinnerbaits and trolled hard bodies. Glenlyon has improved slightly this week, with a few Yellowbelly taking bait, but the Cod are still a bit quiet. Coolmunda has produced good numbers of Cod on lures, around the timber, while frozen Saltwater Yabbies have been effective for yellowbelly. Leslie Dam is continuing to fish quite well on both lures and bait, using a sounder to locate the fish in the main basin and targeting them with bait has been effective and casting purple Spinnerbaits to the rock wall near the buoy line has produced some nice Cod up to 80cm, and in the South Burnett, both Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson dams have again produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, in Boondooma, bait and trolled hard bodies have been effective in the main basin, while casting spinnerbaits around the timber and to the edges throughout the dam has produced some quality fish, while at Bjelke Peterson, casting reaction lures, like spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the timber has been a popular method. As for the rivers, at midnight this Saturday night the ban on Cod fishing in the Border Rivers and also the rivers throughout NSW finishes, so if you like fishing those areas, it’s all systems go in those areas, however the Dumeresq and Macintyre Rivers are fairly dirty at the moment, which has made the fishing fairly tough this week.

GOLD COAST

Offshore fishing has been fairly good this week, the 18’s & 24’s have produced a few smaller Black Marlin and the odd Pearl Perch and there’s still plenty of Kingies and Amberjack hitting jigs on the 50’s. Inshore fishing has seen smaller Kingies and Trevally out the front of Wavebreak Island,  Jumpinpin has been good for Flathead and Tailor on the incoming tide, Whiting at the mouth of the Coomera River and near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River and the southern Broadwater has again seen a few Sand Crabs getting about.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has seen some decent schools of Spotty Mackerel and Long Tail Tuna getting about, the majority of these fish have been taken on cast and retrieved slugs around the 18-25 gram size, while there have been good reports of Tusk Fish and Grassy Sweetlip taken at Caloundra wide. Inshore fishing has seen the passage at Caloundra producing some nice Flathead and few smaller Bream, Trevelly and Jacks around the bridges in the Pelican Waters canals. The Maroochy River has been fishing well for Flathead and Jacks in the upper reaches, Trevally and Chopper Tailor at the mouth of the Noosa River on the run in tide and the beaches have produced good numbers of quality Whiting.

FISHING REPORT   – 21-11-2013

BASS

Cressbrook Dam has seen a few anglers having some success on schooled fish out from Deer Island and near the Eagles Nest, soft plastics, blades and live shrimp have been the best options on these fish. Somerset Dam has been a bit quieter this week; there’s plenty of fish showing on the sounder, but it has been a bit harder getting them to bite, the fish are still holding in Bay 13, Queen Street and around Pelican Point, targeting these fish with soft plastics, blades and soft vibes should bring the best results. Again, not a lot has changed at Boondooma, another good week, more and more reports of fish being caught in main bay on hard bodies. Some big bass on spinner baits flicking the banks near pelican point, Redclaw are now moving down the dam so once you find them, good size and numbers are being caught. At Bjelke Peterson, casting 5/8oz spinnerbaits to the edges, in the timbered area has produced heaps of Bass around the 35cm mark, working the spinnerbaits slow and close to the bottom has been the best method. Maroon Dam was jam packed with anglers last weekend; they were participating in the Maroon Fishing Classic. Live shrimp proved to be the hot bait for the weekend, however surface lures, TN60 Jackalls and Spinnerbaits were effective as well.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Cooby is still fishing well for Yellowbelly around the weed edges, trolled hard bodies and spinnerbaits have worked well on those fish while blades, ice jigs and frozen saltwater yabbies have been effective on the deeper schooled fish and there were a couple of Cod taken on spinnerbaits. Glenlyon has gone quiet this week, there is a lot of water being released from this impoundment, which has shut the fish down. At Coolmunda, trolling darker coloured hard bodies along the drop-offs has worked well, while casting Jackalls and Spinnerbaits around the timber has been good also and as far as bait goes, frozen saltwater yabbies have been the best option. Leslie Dam has continued to fish quite well this past week with reports of some nice fish being landed, mainly on TN60 Jackalls and trolled hard bodies, up around the Black Boys, live shrimp have worked well in the main basin and a couple of Cod were landed, near the rocks at the buoy line, and in the South Burnett, both Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson dams have again produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, in Boondooma, bait and trolled hard bodies have been effective in the main basin, while casting spinnerbaits around the timber in the upper reaches of the Stuart and Boyne arms has again produced some big fish, while at Bjelke Peterson, big Yellowbelly have been taking spinnerbaits around the timber. As for the rivers, the Dumeresq at Texas, the Balonne at St. George and the Condamine River right through our region has seen good numbers of Yellowbelly taken on frozen Saltwater Yabbies and Spinnerbaits.

Offshore fishing has improved this week, the 18’s & 24’s have produced good size Cobia and a few smaller Black Marlin, stacks of Kingies hitting jigs on the 50’s and if you venture out wider to the 110m line, there has been plenty of Mahi Mahi getting about. Inshore fishing has seen smaller Kingies and Trevally hitting lures, in the Seaway, early morning on the run in tide, a few Flathead still getting about Kalinga Banks, Whiting at the mouth of the Coomera River and near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River and the southern Broadwater has produced a few Sand Crabs.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has seen a few smaller Black Marlin, Spanish and School Mackerel getting about, while mixed bags of reef fish have been fairly consistent on the Barwon Banks, Outer Gneerings and also Currimundi Reef to Caloundra wide. Inshore fishing has seen the passage at Caloundra and also the Mooloolah River fishing well on the banks for Whiting, Flathead and few solid Bream. The Mooloolah River is also producing some decent Trevally around the bridges, early morning on soft plastics. The Maroochy River has been fishing well for Flathead around the mouth, Bream and Trevally on plastics around the bridges, a few early season Jacks are taking live bait around the creek mouths at night and Lake Weyba has seen a few Whiting and Bream taking surface poppers along the edges.

FISHING REPORT   – 14-11-2013

BASS

Somerset Dam has fired over the past week; with plenty of quality Bass hitting Slider Grubs and trolled dark coloured hard bodies around Bay13 and Pelican Point, while VX40 blades and Ice Jigs have produced good numbers around the timber at Kirkleigh, working in 25-30ft of water, just out of the creek beds, has worked best. Cressbrook has again produced fairly good numbers of Bass, casting Blades and Jackalls to the edges has produced a few fish, there is also good numbers of quality fish suspended in the deeper water, in the main basin, trolled hard bodies have picked up the majority of these fish. Again, not a lot has changed at Boondooma this week, the mid to upper reaches of the Stuart and Boyne arms have again produced some nice Bass on Jackalls and Spinnerbaits, with the Boyne arm fishing a little better out of the two. At Bjelke Peterson, casting 5/8oz spinnerbaits to the edges, in the timbered area has produced heaps of Bass around the 35cm mark, working the spinnerbaits slow and close to the bottom has been the best method. The water level has dropped about 400mm in the past couple of weeks, so take extra care when heading into those timbered areas, there are a few submerged stumps just under the surface.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Plenty of activity again, for Yellowbelly and Cod fishing this week, casting Jackalls and Spinnerbaits to the edges, around the weed and structure, has been effective at Cooby, EcoGear VX40 Blades and Ice Jigs have again worked well on the deeper fish, while frozen Saltwater Yabbies and live Shrimp have again been popular baits. Glenlyon has been good again this week, with plenty of Cod getting about, some decent sized fish have been hitting bigger Spinnerbaits in the timbered areas, Yellowbelly have also been quite active, trolled hard bodies, spinnerbaits, live shrimp and worms have worked well on these fish. At Coolmunda, trolling Purple or Red and Black coloured hard bodies along the drop-offs has worked well, while casting Jackalls and Spinnerbaits around the timber has been good also and using bait in these same areas has seen some decent fish landed again. Leslie Dam has continued to fish quite well this past week with reports of some nice fish being landed, mainly on TN60 Jackalls, cast to the edges, up past the Black Boys, while Blades, frozen Saltwater Yabbies and live Shrimp have again been effective in the main basin in about 35 feet of water, Somerset is also firing for Yellowbelly at the moment, trolling dark coloured hard bodies in the Pelican Point and Bay 13 areas has been effective, while blades and Ice Jigs have worked well in the timber and in the South Burnett, both Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson dams have again produced good numbers of Yellowbelly, in Boondooma, bait has been effective in the Stuart and Boyne arms and casting spinnerbaits around the timber in the upper reaches of the Stuart arm has produced some big fish as well, while at Bjelke Peterson, big Yellowbelly have been taking spinnerbaits around the timber. As for the rivers, the Dumeresq at Texas and the Balonne at St. George have seen good numbers of Yellowbelly taken on frozen Saltwater Yabbies and Spinnerbaits.

GOLD COAST

Offshore fishing has been steady this week, the Southern 24’s have produced good size Cobia and a few smaller Blue and Black Marlin, while on the 50’s, Pearl Perch, Kingies and Amberjack have again been on the move. Inshore fishing has seen Tailor and Jewies on live bait, along the rock walls, in the Seaway, reasonable numbers of Flathead at the Pin, Whiting out from Sea World and near the Council Chambers in the Nerang River and a few Muddies have started showing up around the mouths of most of the creeks and rivers.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has again been a bit quiet this week, but there has been the odd Spotty Mackerel and Yellowfin Tuna getting about and the outer reefs have produced the odd Snapper, Pearl Perch, Cobia and Kingy. Inshore fishing has again seen a few Flathead and Whiting taken in the Passage, quality Mangrove Jacks are hanging around structure, in most of the estuaries, but you do have work hard for them, the Maroochy River has seen some good action for Whiting, on poppers along the sand bars, but you will have venture into the upper reaches to get any decent numbers, while in the Noosa River, there are plenty of Flathead, Whiting, School Jew and Mangrove Jack throughout.
