FISHING REPORT   – 16-08-2013

BASS

Very similar to last week at Cressbrook, with mixed results still coming in, there are a few fish being caught, the best places to look, are around the points and drop-offs throughout the dam, use a sounder to find the fish and target them with soft plastics, ice jigs and blades, it would also be worth casting Jackals to the edges, early morning and late afternoon. Still some pretty good shows of fish throughout Somerset Dam, targeting the schooled fish with blades, plastics and ice jigs would be the best option, early morning would also be a good time to work the edges with Jackals and the Eagles Nest back to the Spit has been the better area of the dam. There is an ABT Bass Pro event being held there this weekend, so it will be interesting to see how it fishes with the pressure of a tournament. Boondooma has seen small numbers of Bass taken off the edges on spinnerbaits and blades. Maroon is much the same this week, with a few Bass taken around the edges and weed pockets on soft plastics, and at Moogerah, the fish have scattered a bit, but the spit has still produced decent numbers, with a variety of lures working successfully, including small blades, soft plastics, soft vibes and ice jigs.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Cooby Dam is still producing decent numbers of Yellowbelly, fishing mid to late afternoon, look for the fish in deeper water; blades have been the pick of the lures, while frozen saltwater yabbies and live shrimp have been the popular bait., Fishing deep has again been the best option at Glenlyon this week, with some quality Yellowbelly taking bait suspended at about 20-25 feet, some quality Cod around the 80cm mark, have been taking spinnerbaits. Coolmunda has seen Yellowbelly to 50cm hitting Jackals and Spinnerbaits around the timber, and a few undersize Cod have been active in the same area. In the Warwick area this week, Leslie Dam has only produced small numbers of Yellowbelly, off the banks, on frozen saltwater yabbies and live worms, if you are in a boat, working around the edges with TN50 Jackals has again produced a few as well. Boondooma Dam has seen some decent Yellowbelly taking live bait, the middle part of the day has been the best time, while trolled bright green lures have been effective as well and Bjelke Peterson has produced some quality fish around Bass Point on live shrimp and trolled hard bodies. As for the rivers, the Macintyre at Goondiwindi has produced Cod on trolled hard bodies and Yellowbelly on spinnerbaits, the Dumaresq River has seen Yellowbelly biting on live bait, the Balonne at St.George is fishing well for Yellowbelly, however there is quite a few Carp in amongst them and the Condamine River has again fished well for Yellowbelly and Cod, with most of the weirs proving to be quite productive.

GOLD COAST AND TWEED

Offshore fishing this past week has seen Snapper and Cobia on the 18’s and 24’s. Inshore fishing has seen a few Flathead on the flats and Bream around the rock walls at the mouth of the Tweed River and a few Tailor off the beaches. While on the Gold Coast, the Seaway has again seen plenty of Tailor getting about, Bream and Trevally have been active around the rock walls and some decent Flathead have been taking soft plastics throughout the Broadwater, but the better fish have come from around the Pin.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has seen the outer reefs firing for plenty of Snapper, Pearl Perch, Yellow Tail Kingfish and Cobia, while inshore fishing has seen good size Bream off the Boardwalk, and around the bridges in the Maroochy River, good size Flathead, on plastics and live bait, throughout most of the estuaries, the beaches have produced some quality Whiting and the Noosa River has produced good numbers of Flathead and Trevally, as well as some decent Mangrove Jack on live bait

FRASER ISLAND

The past week has again seen good catches of Tailor, Whiting and Dart from Happy Valley to Woody Point, the Tailor have been ranging from 35-45cm, with the odd bigger one in amongst them and most of the Dart have been around the mid 40cm mark.

 

FISHING REPORT   – 09-08-2013

BASS

Still hit and miss at Cressbrook, with mixed results fairly common at the moment, there are a few fish being caught, the best spots are, out from the boat ramp, near the buoy line, Bull Creek arm and around Deer Island, it’s also worth a look on the flats in the Cressbrook Creek arm as well, soft plastics, ice jigs and blades have produced the most fish. Plenty of fish showing up throughout Somerset Dam, unfortunately a lot of them are Barred Grunter; however they can provide a lot of fun for the kids, there are a few decent Bass in amongst them, hopping blades, soft plastics and using Ice Jigs would be the best options, Beams Creek, Eagles Nest, Queen Street and the timber at Kirkleigh would be the best spots to target. Boondooma has again seen some Bass taken on deep diving lures in the main basin, casting blades and smaller spinnerbaits to the edges and around the timber, in the Stuart and Boyne arms has again produced a few fish as well. Maroon is much the same this week, with a few Bass taken around the edges and weed pockets, Moogerah Dam has fired up over the past week, with some decent schools showing up around the spit and also in the timber, ice jigs, blades and soft vibes have worked well on these fish and Cressbrook, Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson Dams continue to produce good numbers of Redclaw.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Cooby Dam is still producing decent numbers of Yellowbelly, fishing mid to late afternoon has been the most productive time, look for the fish in deeper water, soft vibes and frozen saltwater yabbies have been effective again, while a few fish have started hitting trolled hard bodies, around the edges. Fishing deep has again been the best option at Glenlyon this week, with some quality Yellowbelly taking bait, and also a few undersize Cod hitting trolled deep divers and heavy spinnerbaits, there was a 1metre Cod caught and released last weekend. Coolmunda, it is still producing a few Yellowbelly on bait throughout the dam, although along the wall seems to be a more productive area at the moment and casting Jackals around the timber has picked up some fish as well. In the Warwick area this week, Leslie Dam has only produced small numbers of Yellowbelly, off the banks, on frozen saltwater yabbies, if you are in a boat, working around the edges with TN50 Jackals has produced a few as well. Boondooma Dam has seen some decent Yellowbelly taking live bait, the middle part of the day has been the best time, while the Stuart arm has been the better part of the dam to target. As for the rivers, the Macintyre at Goondiwindi has dirtied up this week, so the fishing has been pretty tough, the Dumaresq River has seen Cod taking bait upstream of Texas, while spinnerbaits have worked well downstream and the Condamine River has again fished well for Yellowbelly and Cod, with most of the weirs proving to be quite productive.

GOLD COAST AND TWEED

Offshore fishing this past week has seen Snapper and Trag Jew taken around 9 Mile Reef, there’s also been a few Cobia and Pearl Perch on the 24’s. Inshore fishing has seen a few Flathead and Bream around the rock walls at the mouth of the Tweed River and a few Tailor off the beaches. While on the Gold Coast, the Seaway has again seen plenty of Tailor getting about, Flathead on soft plastics, at Kalinga Bank, Cobby Passage and The Bedrooms and the top of Crusoe Island has gone well for Bream. 

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has again produced some reasonable catches, from both the inner and outer reefs, heaps of Snapper, good numbers of Pearl Perch along with some good sized Cobia have been taken with some areas still producing a real mixed bag of fish and there’s still quite a few School Mackerel and Yellow fin Tuna getting about. Inshore fishing has seen Bream around the power boat club,  and throughout the Maroochy River, good size Flathead, on plastics and live bait, throughout most of the estuaries, the beaches have produced some quality Whiting and the Noosa River has produced good numbers of Big Eye Trevally, as well as some decent Mangrove Jack

FRASER ISLAND

The past week has seen good catches of Tailor, Whiting and Dart from Happy Valley to Woody Point, the Tailor have been ranging from 35-45cm, with the odd bigger one in amongst them and most of the Dart have been around the mid 40cm mark.

FISHING REPORT   – 02-08-2013

BASS

Not a lot has changed on the Bass scene this week, Cressbrook Dam continues to see some good quality fish coming out of about 15 feet of water, mainly around the points throughout the dam and soft plastics have been the most effective, there are fish in the deeper water, as you work out from the points, but these fish are a bit smaller. Still scattered schools of fish showing up at Somerset Dam, just out from the Eagles Nest, Queen Street and the start of the timber at Kirkleigh have been popular areas, but the fish have been very tentative, with not a lot caught, hopping blades, soft vibes and soft plastics and using Ice Jigs would be the best options, if you were heading there for a fish. The water continues to clear at Boondooma and this has again seen some Bass taken on deep diving lures in the main basin, casting blades and smaller spinnerbaits to the edges and around the timber, in the Stuart and Boyne arms has again produced a few fish as well. Maroon is much the same this week, with a few Bass taken around the edges and weed pockets, soft plastics and small suspending minnows are still the lures of choice and Moogerah Dam has seen some Bass hitting blades and crank baits, cast to the edges, it’s also worth a look for schooled fish in the deeper water, with ice jigs the best option on those fish and Cressbrook, Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson Dams continue to produce good numbers of Redclaw.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Cooby Dam is still producing decent numbers of Yellowbelly, fishing mid to late afternoon has been the most productive time, vertically jigging or hopping blades and soft vibes has been effective, while live shrimp and frozen saltwater yabbies have again been the pick of the baits. Fishing deep seems to be the best option at Glenlyon at the moment, with some quality Yellowbelly and also Cod up to 70cm have been taking trolled deep divers and heavy spinnerbaits. Similar to previous weeks at Coolmunda, it is still producing a few Yellowbelly on bait throughout the dam, trolled lures have also started to get some results as well, but the Cod fishing has been a bit quiet. In the Warwick area this week, Leslie Dam has only produced small numbers of Yellowbelly, off the banks, on frozen saltwater yabbies, but there has been a few Cod between 65 and 70cm taking spinnerbaits. Boondooma Dam has again seen some decent Yellowbelly caught of the banks this week, there are still a few fish taking live shrimp in both arms of the dam. As for the rivers, the Macintyre at Goondiwindi has seen spinnerbaits and frozen saltwater yabbies picking up some quality Cod to 80cm, while some good size Yellowbelly have been taken as well, the Dumaresq River is a bit dirty at the moment, however bait has been a successful option as far as the Yellowbelly are concerned, while the Cod have been a bit quiet and although the river is quite dirty at St.George, again bait has been effective for a few Yellowbelly.

GOLD COAST AND TWEED

Offshore fishing this past week has seen Snapper and Yellow Tail Kingfish taken on the 18’s and 24’s, there’s also been a few Yellow fin Tuna and School Mackerel getting about, on the closer reefs. Inshore fishing has seen a few Flathead and Bream on the run in tide around the Tweed River mouth and a few Tailor taken at night off the beaches. While on the Gold Coast, the Seaway has again seen plenty of Tailor and Trevelly taken on the run in tide, also a few Bream off the rock wall, in the Broadwater, good numbers of Gar off the weed beds at the northern end of Crab Island, Tailor and Dart off the beaches, and fishing unweighted live mullet at night, has been very effective for Mulloway.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has produced some reasonable catches, from both the inner and outer reefs, Snapper, Pearl Perch along with some good sized Cobia have been taken with some areas producing a real mixed bag of fish and if you like trolling for pelagics,  there’s quite a few School Mackerel and Yellow fin Tuna getting about. Inshore fishing has seen Bream off the Boardwalk and Military Jetty at Caloundra and throughout the Maroochy and Noosa Rivers, good size Flathead throughout most of the estuaries and off the beaches, Tailor at night, around the mouth of the Maroochy River and the exposed beaches have produced some quality Dart and Bream, with afternoon proving to be the best time.

BASS

Maroon is much the same this week, with a few Bass taken around the edges and weed pockets, soft plastics and small suspending minnows are still the lures of choice and Moogerah Dam has seen some Bass hitting blades and crank baits, cast to the edges.

And again, Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson Dams are producing plenty of Redclaw, but these cooler conditions we’re having might see the numbers start to drop.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Similar to previous weeks at Coolmunda, it is still producing a few Yellowbelly on bait throughout the dam, while hopping small blades has produced a few fish as well. In the Warwick area this week, not a lot has changed, with Leslie Dam only producing small numbers of Yellowbelly on frozen saltwater yabbies, but again, the Condamine River and some of the smaller creeks in that Southern Downs area have produced some nice Yellowbelly and a few decent Cod up to 20lb, spinnerbaits and crank baits are still working well on these fish. Boondooma Dam has again seen some decent Yellowbelly caught of the banks this week, there are still a few Yellowbelly taking live shrimp in both arms of the dam. As for the rivers, the Macintyre at Goondiwindi has dirtied up again, which has made the fishing pretty hard, while the Dumaresq River, upstream of Texas has been quite productive for Cod and Yellowbelly, with spinnerbaits and bait proving to be effective.

Offshore fishing this past week has seen Trag Jew, Snapper and the odd Cobia on the 24’s, the 36’s has also seen some nice Snapper and the 50’s has been the area to target some quality Pearl Perch. Inshore fishing has seen a few Flathead and Bream on the run in tide around the Tweed River mouth and a few Tailor taken at night off the beaches. While on the Gold Coast, the Seaway has again seen plenty of Mulloway and Trevelly taken on the run in tide, also a few Bream off the rock wall, in the Broadwater, good numbers of Gar off the weed beds at the northern end of Crab Island, Tailor and Dart off the beaches, afternoon has been productive for Bream, Whiting and Tailor off the sand pumping jetty and it’s worth a try around the creek mouths for Mud Crabs.

SUNSHINE COAST

Not a lot to report as far as offshore fishing goes this week. Inshore fishing has seen Bream off the Boardwalk and Military Jetty at Caloundra, in the deeper holes, throughout the Maroochy and Noosa Rivers, Sand Whiting off Golden Beach and in most of the canals, the Cod Hole and Woods Bay have produced some nice Jew and Trevally, a few Jacks around the bridge pylons and moorings in the Noosa River, Tailor at night, around the mouth of the Maroochy River and the exposed beaches have produced some quality Dart and Bream, with afternoon proving to be the best time.

BASS

Cressbrook Dam has seen some good quality fish coming out of about 15 feet of water, mainly around the points throughout the dam and soft plastics have been the most effective. A few schools of fish still showing up at Somerset Dam, just out from the Eagles Nest, Queen Street and the start of the timber at Kirkleigh have been the best spots, hopping blades, soft vibes and soft plastics and using Ice Jigs have picked up a few fish. A bit of a change at Boondooma this week, there have been a few reports of some schools starting to show up throughout the main basin of the dam, there is still the odd bass being caught, casting blades and smaller spinnerbaits to the edges and around the timber, in the Stuart and Boyne arms. Maroon has produced a few fish again this week, they’re still mainly around the edges and weed pockets, with soft plastics and small suspending minnows picking up most of the fish and Moogerah Dam has seen some Bass hitting blades and crank baits, cast to the edges.

As far as Redclaw go, Boondooma and Bjelke Peterson Dams have started to see some decent numbers filling the traps again, this is very unusual for this time of year, but some people have been getting 60-90 a night, setting the traps in 20 feet of water and boiled spuds have been the bait of preference.

Glenlyon has again seen some decent numbers of Yellowbelly, in 30-40 feet of water taking live shrimp, the Cod fishing is a little slow, with only a few 60-70cm fish taking spinnerbaits. Similar to previous week’s at Coolmunda, it is still producing a few Yellowbelly on bait throughout the dam, and around the timbered area of the dam, soft vibes and blades have produced a few fish as well. In the Warwick area this week, Leslie Dam has been a bit quiet; with only small numbers of Yellowbelly biting on frozen saltwater yabbies, but the Condamine River and some of the smaller creeks in that Southern Downs area have produced some nice Yellowbelly and a few decent Cod up to 20lb, spinnerbaits and crank baits have worked well on these fish. Boondooma Dam saw a few land based anglers catch Yellowbelly of the banks this week, there are still a few Yellowbelly and Silver Perch taking live shrimp both arms of the dam, Jackals and Spinnerbaits have picked up a few fish in these areas as well. As for the rivers, the Macintyre at Goondiwindi is still improving as the water settles, with a few Yellowbelly and plenty of Cod taking live Yabbies and hard bodies, but spinnerbaits have been the most effective and most of the western creeks and rivers continue to produce good numbers of quality Cod and Yellowbelly, with live bait working well and also a well-placed cast with a spinnerbait or lipless crankbait, around the snags, will see you pick up some nice fish as well.

GOLD COAST AND TWEED

Not a lot of anglers ventured offshore this past week, but those that did, picked up a few Snapper and Maori Cod on the 24’s and out a bit wider, there were a few Pearl Perch on the 36’s. Inshore fishing has seen Flathead and School Jew throughout the Tweed River and Luderick around the rock walls. While on the Gold Coast, the Seaway has again seen plenty of Mulloway and Trevelly taken on the run in tide, also a few Bream off the rock wall, in the Broadwater, good numbers of Gar off the weed beds at the northern end of Crab Island, Tailor and Dart off the beaches and afternoon has been productive for Mulloway and Tailor off the Pumping Jetty.

SUNSHINE COAST

Offshore fishing has been fairly good, Murphies Reef, Caloundra wide and the banks are seeing good catches of Snapper, Parrot, Tuskfish, Cobia and even a few Reds. Plenty of Snapper about as well, with bag limits quite easy to achieve at the moment. In close only a few reports from the Gneerings, Currimundi and Caloundra 5 mile of Snapper and Grassy Sweetlip, however due to the weather making it hard to get out, fishing these closer reefs would be a good option at the moment. Inshore fishing has seen smaller Chopper Tailor caught around the mouth through to the motorway bridge in the Maroochy River, with reports of Jew and bigger Bream at night, around the mouth on the run out tide, at Caloundra, quite a few bream at night around the mouth areas, as well as Grunter and Jew up past Military Jetty, Bream and trevally along the edges of Kawana and Currumundi lakes at night, and reports of Garfish moving back into the Mooloolah River basin early morning and late afternoon. As for the beaches, Tailor have been about in better numbers along the Kawana strip with some 2 to 3kg fish being found in the gutters pre-dawn on the run in tide. During the day some solid Dart and Bream and late afternoon, the gutters seem to be more active with Tarwhine and Jewfish at the start of the run out tide.

BASS

Not a lot has changed this week, as far as the Bass fishing goes, again a few quality fish have been landed at Cressbrook, look for schooled fish throughout the dam and target them with soft plastics, soft vibes, ice jigs and blades, it’s also worth a try around the edges, particularly early morning and late afternoon, with soft plastics and crank baits being your best option in these areas. A few schools of fish still showing up at Somerset Dam, Pelican Point, Eagles Nest, Queen Street and the start of the timber at Kirkleigh,  vertically worked blades and Ice Jigs are picking up a few fish. A carbon copy of last week at Boondooma, still the odd bass being caught casting blades to edges and jigging blades off the bottom in top end of the Stuart and Boyne arms. Still a few fish at Maroon this week, they have mainly been around the edges and weed pockets, with soft plastics and small suspending minnows proving to be the most effective and Moogerah Dam is clearing up, which has seen some smaller Bass caught off the banks and a few smaller schools showing up in about 30 feet of water.

YELLOWBELLY AND COD

Much the same at Cooby Dam this week, it is still producing decent numbers of Yellowbelly, there are a few smaller fish starting to show up, so remember, 30cm is the minimum length for these fish, vertically jigging or hopping blades has still  been effective, while live shrimp and frozen saltwater yabbies have been the pick of the baits. Glenlyon has again seen some decent numbers of Yellowbelly, in 15-40ft of water taking live shrimp, but the Cod fishing has picked up, with a few 60-70cm fish taking spinnerbaits. Similar to last week at Coolmunda, it is still producing a few Yellowbelly on bait throughout the dam, and around the timbered area of the dam, soft vibes and blades have produced a few fish as well. In the Warwick area this week, Leslie Dam has been a bit quiet; while Connelly has produced a few Yellowbelly on frozen saltwater yabbies. Much the same at Boondooma Dam this week as well, there has been a few Yellowbelly and Silver Perch taken on live shrimp, Jackals and Spinnerbaits in the timbered areas of both arms of the dam. As for the rivers, the Macintyre at Goondiwindi is still improving as the water settles, with a few Yellowbelly and Cod taking live Yabbies, mornings seem to be the best time to go, the Balonne River at St.George continues to produce good numbers of Yellowbelly on bait, the Dumeresq River has fished well for good quality Yellowbelly up to 60cm and Cod to 20lb, spinnerbaits and hard bodies have been popular and as the Condamine River continues to clear up, the fishing continue to pick up in most spots, good numbers of Yellowbelly and some nice Cod have been actively taking a range of baits, as well as Spinnerbaits and hard bodies.

GOLD COAST AND TWEED

A bit of an improvement as far as offshore fishing goes, some reasonable Snapper taking unweighted pilchards on the 18’s and 24’s, also some bigger Snapper, Pearl Perch, Cobia and Kingies, wider on the 36’s. Inshore fishing has seen a few Tailor and Jewies on the Tweed Coast beaches and plenty of Bream around any sort of structure throughout the Tweed River. The Gold Coast Seaway has again seen plenty of Mulloway and Trevelly taken on the run in tide, the Broadwater has also produced good numbers of Gar off the weed beds, the northern end of Crab Island, The Aldershots and Kalinga Bank have seen a few Flathead getting about and late afternoon has been productive for Mulloway and Tailor off the Pumping Jetty.

SUNSHINE COAST

A bit more to report for offshore fishing this week, the outer edges of Murphy’s Reef and down around Caloundra 12 Mile and Caloundra wide produced a mixed bag of Snapper, Pearl Perch, Mulloway and Parrot, while the closer reefs are the go, if you like chasing smaller Squire on soft plastics, using light gear. The beaches have seen plenty of Tailor, Dart, Bream and Tarwhine. Bream and Flathead throughout the passage and off the Boardwalk at Caloundra, the Maroochy River has also fished well for Bream, Flathead and a few Jewies, the Noosa River has fished well for Mulloway and Trevelly along the ski run and in Woods Bay and fishing around the bridges and pylons has produced a few decent Mangrove Jack.

BASS

A few schools of fish still showing up at Somerset Dam, Pelican Point, Eagles Nest, Queen Street and the start of the timber at Kirkleigh,  vertically worked blades and Ice Jigs are picking up a few fish. A carbon copy of last week at Boondooma, still the odd bass being caught casting blades to edges and jigging blades off the bottom in top end of the Stuart River. Still a few fish at Maroon this week, they have mainly been around the edges and weed pockets, with soft plastics and small suspending minnows proving to be the most effective.

Glenlyon has again seen some decent numbers of Yellowbelly, in 30-40ft of water taking live shrimp, but it’s been pretty hard going if you like chasing Cod, with only a few smaller 60-65cm fish being caught. Similar to last week at Coolmunda, it is still producing a few Yellowbelly on bait throughout the dam, and around the timbered area of the dam, soft vibes and blades have produced a few fish as well. In the Warwick area this week, Leslie Dam has seen a few Yellowbelly taken on frozen shrimp and frozen saltwater yabbies, the Condamine has dirtied up a bit, which has shut the river fishing down in the area. Much the same at Boondooma Dam this week as well, there has been a few Yellowbelly and Silver Perch taken on live shrimp, Jackals and Spinnerbaits in the timbered areas of both arms of the dam. As for the rivers, the Macintyre at Goondiwindi is still improving as the water settles, with a few Yellowbelly and Cod taking live Yabbies, mornings seem to be the best time to go, the Balonne River at St.George continues to produce good numbers of Yellowbelly on bait, the Dumeresq River has fished well for good quality Yellowbelly up to 60cm and Cod to 20lb, spinnerbaits and hard bodies have been popular and the lower reaches of the Condamine River are still clearing up, which has seen the fishing continue to pick up in most spots, good numbers of Yellowbelly and some nice Cod have been actively taking a range of baits, as well as Spinnerbaits and hard bodies.

GOLD COAST AND TWEED

Offshore fishing has been fairly non-existent this week, due to the poor conditions, however the weekend is shaping up to be pretty good weather wise, so if you are heading that way this weekend, the closer reefs will be the go for Snapper and if you can get out a bit wider, Pearl Perch should be on the chew. Inshore fishing has been a bit quiet as well, with the odd Mulloway and Bream around the headlands at the Tweed, while the beaches have seen a few Tailor in the gutters. The Gold Coast Seaway is alive with Mulloway, Bream and Tailor, the Broadwater has also produced good numbers of Tailor and Bream on metal lures, while the northern end of Crab Island and the Pin have seen a few Flathead getting about.

SUNSHINE COAST

Nothing to report as far as offshore fishing goes, but with better weather predicted for this weekend, the best reefs to target would be the top end of the Barwon Banks, the outer edges of Murphy’s Reef and down around Caloundra 12 Mile and Caloundra wide. Along the beaches, Tailor have been showing up at night, off the rocks at the mouth of the Mooloolah River and also around the Currimundi and Moffat Beach stretch. During the day the holes and gutters have been holding some nice Dart, Bream and a few Tarwhine. There has been quite a few Mulloway in the rivers so if you like chasing them, now is the time to try around the river mouths, especially after the rain. Bream have been about in fairly good numbers of late and the Mooloolah River mouth, Military Jetty, the passage and around the cod hole in the Maroochy River are as good as any places to start. Flathead are also in good numbers too, with the Maroochy River and the lower reaches of the passage performing well for this time of year. A few reports of Chopper Tailor through the rivers as well with the motorway bridge in the Maroochy River and the passage once again the more active locations.
